Vrouw met stola (woman with shawl)
Singel/Spui, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
This upright-looking woman with a shawl was modelled by the sculptor Pieter d’Hont on his wife. But which wife did he have in mind? He was married first to the painter Anneke Jansen. It didn’t work out. The couple divorced in 1956 after eight years together. He was married then to Silvie Kögl. But that didn’t work out, either. It seems that while sculpture was a strong point for Pieter d’Hont, marriage was not.
Oh, and the wife he had in mind? Silvie.
