Volendam Villagers

Volendam Villagers
Damrak, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

When you think of traditional Dutch costume, you think of people dressed like this. But this is actually the costume of one small village. It is called Volendam and is about half an hour’s drive north of Amsterdam. Perhaps most impressive about this costume is the lace cap with wings. But also pretty impressive is the fact that everything’s fastened together using silver guilders instead of buttons.
