Monumento a la Sardana (monument to the circle dance)
Parc de Montjuïc, Barcelona, Spain
To dance the Sardana, you stand in a circle, you join hands with the people on either side of you and when the music starts, you lift your arms up and down and shake your feet in and out. It has been danced after church services in Catalonia for hundreds of years. And so for some, this is more than a joyful and carefree frolic with your friends. This is a symbol of the Catalan nation.
