Los Jardines de las Vistillas, Madrid, Spain
Violeteras, or violet-sellers, flit around the streets of Madrid selling their tiny purple-coloured flowers. Their customers are young men who want to decorate their lapels. In a popular Spanish song by José Padilla, La Violetera flutters with her basket from one young man to another, like a bird chirping and chattering. But these young men should beware. If one of them catches La Violetera’s eye, she’ll make his heart burn.
